LocalTC is free software given away by one person. These terms cover this website and the program, and they are deliberately short. Using either means you accept them; if you do not, please do not use them.

Toy aeroplanes only. LocalTC is an add-on for a video game. It is not an aviation product, it is not certified, its phraseology is an approximation, and it must never be used for real-world flight, navigation, training credit or as a substitute for actual air traffic control. Do not use it in an aircraft.

1. The licence

LocalTC is released under the GNU Affero General Public License, version 3 or later. The full text ships with the source, and that licence — not this page — is what actually grants your rights. In plain terms it lets you run the program for any purpose, read and change the source, and pass it on, on one condition: if you distribute a modified version, or run one as a service others use over a network, you must make your source available to them under the same licence. Free stays free.

Nothing on this page limits the rights the AGPL grants you. Where the two disagree, the licence wins.

2. It costs nothing

There is no price, no trial, no subscription, no paid tier and no feature held back for one. Donations through Buy Me a Coffee are voluntary gifts, not purchases: they buy no licence, no support, no priority and no promised feature, and they are handled entirely by Buy Me a Coffee under their own terms and refund policy.

3. No warranty

LocalTC is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. It may contain bugs. It may mishear you, clear you onto an occupied runway, or stop talking halfway through a flight. Sections 15 to 17 of the AGPL set this out in full and apply in their entirety.

4. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, the author is not liable for any damage arising from using — or failing to use — LocalTC or this website, including lost data, a corrupted simulator install, a ruined flight, or any indirect or consequential loss. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, and where that is the case, those exclusions simply do not apply to you and the rest of this section stands. Nothing here excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, where the law forbids excluding it.

5. Your responsibilities

You install and run the software on your own hardware, at your own risk.
You are responsible for complying with the terms of the other things it uses — Microsoft Flight Simulator and its SDK, Ollama, the speech and voice models, and SimBrief — each under their own licences and terms.
Do not use LocalTC for anything unlawful, and do not represent its output as real air traffic control.

6. Other people's names and code

LocalTC is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Microsoft, Asobo Studio, SimBrief, Navigraph, Ollama or anyone else named on this site. Microsoft Flight Simulator is a trademark of Microsoft Corporation, and all other trademarks belong to their owners; they are used here only to say what LocalTC works with.

The project includes third-party components under their own licences, including the Whisper speech models, Piper voices, and the Inter and JetBrains Mono typefaces, which are used under the SIL Open Font License. Its airspace outlines are adapted from the VATSpy Data Project and the SimAware TRACON Project, by the VATSIM community, under CC BY-SA 4.0; they describe simulated airspace and are not an official source.

7. No promises about the future

This is a spare-time project. Features listed as "not yet" may never be built, anything may change or be removed, and the whole thing may stop being maintained without notice. There is no service level, no guaranteed support and no guaranteed response to an issue. What you do keep, always, is the copy on your disk and the right to fork it.

8. This website

The site is offered for information. It collects nothing about you (see the privacy policy), and we do our best to keep it accurate, but specifics like model speeds and download sizes depend on your hardware and may be out of date. Links to other sites are not endorsements, and we are not responsible for what is on them.

9. Changes

These terms may change; the date at the top says when they last did, and every revision is in the repository's public commit history. Continuing to use LocalTC after a change means accepting the new version.
